As an example of Sunstone’s exceptional client engagement, Nancy cites a case study of C-DUS Labs, which specializes in designing unmanned aerial vehicles. Initially, C-DUS had to reduce the size and weight of their ‘auto-pilot’ system, as their existing system weighed 2.5 lbs and required a very large oversized vehicle to support that. C-DUS’s designer contacted Sunstone to help them design a suitable PCB that would allow for reduced weight and space. The first step involved a small PCB that routed the wiring in an efficient manner, followed by removing a baseball-sized sensor in favor of an onboard chip and so forth until the 2.5 lb system was merely 13 grams. Sunstone’s PCB123, a design and engineering software, proved to be extremely instrumental in this process by providing C-DUS’s engineer with a free tool equipped with an intuitive interface and logical design process.
